Straight answers about managed IT and cybersecurity
The questions Southern California business owners ask us most — pricing, response times, compliance, and what a transition actually looks like.
Frequently asked questions
How much does managed IT support cost for a small business in Temecula?
Fully Managed IT starts at $155 per user per month, all-inclusive — helpdesk, 24/7 monitoring, patching, and onsite visits. Our ProTier plan is $199 per user per month and adds managed EDR and 24/7 SOC monitoring, and SecureTier is $249 per user per month for regulated offices that need compliance reporting and vCISO oversight. Additional managed devices such as mobile phones, printers, and signature pads are billed separately at a flat monthly rate. There are no hourly surprise invoices for covered day-to-day work.
What's included in a managed IT services agreement?
Unlimited helpdesk support for your staff, 24/7 monitoring and alerting on every machine, Windows/macOS and third-party patching, onsite support from local engineers, hardware lifecycle planning with written refresh budgets, vendor management with your practice-management and internet providers, documented network diagrams and asset inventory, and quarterly reviews. Projects such as an office move or a full server replacement are quoted separately and up front.
How fast do you respond to an outage or security incident?
Median response during business hours is under 15 minutes, with the SLA documented in your agreement. Standard onsite arrival in the Temecula Valley is within 90 minutes during business hours, and same day for critical outages. Security alerts route to our 24/7 SOC, where a compromised account or ransomware-behaving endpoint is typically contained in minutes — including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Do you support HIPAA compliance for dental and medical practices?
Yes. Dental and medical practices are a core part of our work. We run the HIPAA Security Risk Analysis, close the technical gaps it finds (MFA, encryption, access control, audit logging, immutable backups), maintain written policies and workforce training records, sign a Business Associate Agreement, and keep the evidence package an auditor or insurer will ask for. We also work directly with imaging and practice-management vendors so clinical systems stay supported.
What's the difference between managed IT and a vCISO engagement?
Managed IT keeps the technology running day to day — support, monitoring, patching, and hardware. A vCISO engagement is security leadership: risk assessments, a written security program and policies, framework alignment (HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2, NIST), vendor and insurance questionnaires, board- and owner-level reporting, and a prioritized multi-quarter roadmap. Most clients start with managed IT and add vCISO when compliance, contracts, or cyber-insurance requirements enter the picture.
Do you offer CMMC 2.0 readiness for government contractors?
Yes. We map your environment against NIST SP 800-171 controls, produce the System Security Plan and Plan of Action & Milestones, help scope a compliant enclave so the entire company does not fall into assessment scope, implement the required technical controls, and prepare the evidence for a Level 2 assessment. This is delivered through our vCISO and compliance service alongside managed IT.
What industries do you specialize in?
Dental practices, medical and specialty clinics, law firms, manufacturing and light industrial operations, professional services, financial services, and government contractors. Regulated and appointment-driven businesses are the common thread: downtime has a direct dollar cost, and a data incident carries reporting obligations.
How is Bitlock Shield different from a typical MSP?
Three things. We are local — headquartered in Temecula, so an engineer who already knows your network answers, and onsite help is 90 minutes away, not a day. We are security-first: 24/7 SOC monitoring, managed EDR, and immutable backups are standard rather than an upsell. And our pricing is flat and published, so budgeting does not depend on how many tickets your staff were willing to open that month.
Which cities do you serve?
Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Riverside, and San Diego County, plus the surrounding Inland Empire. Remote support covers any location; onsite coverage is concentrated in the Temecula Valley, Riverside County, and North County San Diego.
Can you take over from our current IT provider without downtime?
Yes. Onboarding starts with a discovery and assessment pass that inventories every device, application, backup, and account, followed by a written findings report. We then stabilize the urgent items, standardize the security baseline, and transition support in a scheduled cutover — usually outside business hours, with your existing provider retained until documentation and credentials are fully handed over.
